For 4.5 days, students from 6 universities across the Northeast Region convened for intensive workshops, speakers, farm field trips, cooking, hiking, camping, and general cooperation in Copake Falls, NY.
Despite an unexpected last minute change in location, everybody remained present and worked together through various hiccups to create a powerful retreat. With workshops ranging from ‘Pricing, Sales and Margins’ to ‘Non Violent Communication’ to ‘Sustainable Food Systems’ and ‘Garlic Scape Pesto Making’, students left with valuable information that will help them continue their progress back at school.
Thanks to Once Again Nut Butters, Luna Bar and Glebocki Farms, we had no shortage of food during the retreat. They kept us nourished during our fieldtrip to Tweefontein Herb Farm and workday at Wassaic Community Farm!
We, as staff, also have some valuable take aways for making our future retreats cooperatively run! Look out for more information on the upcoming the Fall Convergence (Veteran’s Day Weekend, 2012).
For those who couldn’t make it, here are some pictures so you can live vicariously:
